A reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” this is a short but well written horror novel. The character development that Kingfisher employees in the novel is amazing for such a short book. The storyline itself is something I have seen in other horror novels so the outcome was not hard to predict but whether you are knew it or an expert this book is worth a quick read. Kingfisher has an interesting take on gender in the novel that was unexpected yet very appreciated. Since it’s a horror novel I’d love to pair this book with a Lost in the Woods mug topped off with a shot in the dark.
