It’s not often I stick through a book that felt a little painful to read. This book felt very slow to me but the human who recommended it loved it and said she tore through it. It is an interesting and quite realistic take on Dracula and vampires. I stuck with the book because I found the history pieces fascinating as my maternal lineage is Romanian. I did find the writing a bit dry and drawn out so if you find yourself picking up this book maybe pair it with Tuica, Romania’s national drink. A strong brandy made from fermented plums that you will probably want to slowly sip and sink into the history of if vampires really do exist served in a simple Lined Whiskey Tumbler.
