THE BONE SEASON

MUG:  Prairie Fire Mug

BOOK: The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

DRINK:  Mecks (non-alcoholic wine)

Written by the same author of The Priory of the Orange Tree I was keen to continue digging into Shannon’s creative mind. The Bone Season is a fascinating landscape where people have the ability to be clairvoyant but, of course, the general public are terrified of anything that is different than “normal” so clairvoyants are tightly controlled. The main character is a femme who has a powerful level of clairvoyant powers. As she is exploring the use of her power you learn about the levels of government control and just how fucked up it truly is. I did enjoy the book and found that Shannon’s creativity is quite unparalleled, she started this book series (I believe there are 7 books) when she was 21 years old! Unfortunately, perhaps due to her young age, there are some classic tropes that the book falls into that I found pretty cringe worthy so I doubt I’ll continue reading the rest of the series. But if you do fall in love with the series please let me know what you think! I would pair this book with a bright Prairie Fire Mug (I mean look how perfectly they match this book cover) topped off with some mecks. (A non-alcoholic wine in the book. Alcohol is highly regulated in Shannon’s version of London because it’s considered to be a source of clairvoyance, which is absurd.)
